The choral society will present their annual Christmas concert entitled The Music of Christmas on Sunday, December 17, at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. The choir will perform a variety of sacred and secular seasonal classics including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Away in a Manger, and the perennial favorite, the choir’s audience-participation version of The Twelve Days of Christmas. Also included will be We Are His Gold, an excerpt from the 2017 performance of the cantata Canticle of Joy, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, and the traditional concluding selection, Night of Silence, again with audience participation. The basses and tenors will be featured in Jingle Bell Celebration, and, not to be out-done, the sopranos and altos will sing the beautiful Christmas ballad, The Birthday of a King. The choir will also sing American composer Jill Gallina’s Have a Very Merry Christmas Day, and Dan Forrest’s The Shepherd’s Carol. In lieu of tickets a free-will offering will be taken. Concert doors will open at 3:00 p.m.
